The psalmist declares the Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice, let the multitude of isles be glad, clouds and darkness being round about Him, righteousness and judgment being the habitation of His throne, a fire going before Him, and burning up His enemies on every side.
The psalmist describes His “lightnings,” “baraq” in Hebrew, enlightening the world, the earth seeing and trembling, the hills melting like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth, the heavens declaring His righteousness, and all the people seeing His glory, confounding all who serve carved images, that boast of idols, worshiping Him, all gods being commanded to worship Him.
The psalmist describes how Zion heard and was glad, the daughters of Judah rejoicing because of God’s judgments, since He is high above all the earth, exalted far above all gods, urging those who love the Lord to hate evil, since He preserves the souls of His saints, delivering them out of the hand of the wicked, light being sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart, closing with an invitation to rejoice in the Lord, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.
