The Chosen Key Word in this Chapter is “Love” it comes from the Greek Word “agape” which means “selfless, deliberate love.”

Knowing that His hour has come to depart out of this world to the Father, and “having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.” During supper, Jesus rises, wraps a towel around Himself, and begins washing His disciples’ feet, a task normally reserved for the lowest servant. Peter initially refuses, but Jesus explains that unless He washes him, Peter has no part with Him. Jesus tells them that if their Lord and Master has washed their feet, they ought to wash one another’s feet too, since a servant is not greater than his master.
Troubled in spirit, Jesus announces that one of them will betray Him. The disciples look at one another uncertainly, and when Peter signals to the disciple leaning on Jesus’ breast to ask who it is, Jesus indicates Judas Iscariot by handing him a piece of bread. Satan enters Judas at that moment, and Jesus tells him, “That thou doest, do quickly.” The other disciples do not understand what is happening, and Judas goes out immediately into the night.
Jesus tells the remaining disciples that He will be with them only a little longer, and gives them “a new commandment,” that they love one another exactly as He has loved them, declaring that this love will be the mark by which everyone knows they are His disciples. When Peter insists he will lay down his life for Jesus, Jesus predicts that Peter will deny Him three times before the rooster crows.
Jesus washed the feet of the very disciple He knew would betray Him within hours, treating Judas with the exact same humble service He offered everyone else at that table. Genuine love, according to this scene, extends itself fully even toward those we know will fail or betray us.
