The Chosen Key Word in this Chapter is “Smoke” it comes from the Hebrew Word “ashan” which means “smoke.”

Isaiah describes seeing the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, His train filling the temple, above it the seraphims, each having six wings, crying one to another, “Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory,” the posts of the door moving at the voice of him who cried, and the house being filled with “smoke,” “ashan” in Hebrew.
Isaiah cries out, “Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts,” describing how one of the seraphims flew to him, having a live coal in his hand, taken with tongs from off the altar, laying it upon his mouth, declaring, “Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.”
Isaiah hears the voice of the Lord asking, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” and Isaiah responds, “Here am I; send me,” the Lord commissioning him to tell this people, hearing indeed, but not understanding, and seeing indeed, but not perceiving, making their heart fat, and their ears heavy, and shutting their eyes, lest they should see and hear and understand, and convert and be healed, Isaiah asking how long, the Lord answering until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the land utterly desolate, yet promising a tenth shall remain, and shall return, and shall be eaten, as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them when they cast their leaves, so the holy seed shall be its substance, this remarkable throne-room vision establishing Isaiah’s call and mission with unforgettable, vivid imagery.
Isaiah’s overwhelming vision of God’s holiness, so intense it left him crying out about his own uncleanness, models the appropriate, humbling response genuine encounter with divine holiness should produce. His willing response, here am I, send me, offered even after learning the difficult nature of his coming mission, demonstrates genuine, costly obedience offered before fully knowing what that obedience would actually require.
