Isaiah declares that in that day, they shall say, “O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me,” describing how behold, God is their “salvation,” “yeshuah” in Hebrew, they will trust, and not be afraid, since the Lord Jehovah is their strength and their song, He also having become their salvation.
Isaiah declares that with joy shall they draw water out of the wells of salvation, and in that day shall they say, “Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted,” singing to the Lord, since He has done excellent things, this being known in all the earth.
Isaiah closes this brief but joyful chapter urging the inhabitant of Zion to cry out and shout, since great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of them, this short song of praise fittingly concluding the first major section of Isaiah’s prophecy, moving from extensive warnings of judgment toward genuine, anticipated celebration of God’s promised salvation and restoration.
