The Chosen Key Word in this Chapter is “Finished” it comes from the Hebrew Word “kalah” which means “to finish, to complete.”
The final pieces come together, and Moses inspects everything before presenting it all to the Lord. Welcome to Bible Life Basics Chapter Reviews, I am Chris and this is Exodus 39.
The skilled workers complete the priestly garments exactly as God commanded Moses, weaving the ephod of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, setting two onyx stones engraved with the names of Israel’s tribes on its shoulder pieces. They craft the breastplate of judgment with its twelve precious stones, each engraved with a tribal name, attached securely to the ephod with gold chains and rings, along with the blue robe, its hem decorated with alternating gold bells and pomegranates.
The workers also complete the coats, turban, and linen breeches for Aaron and his sons, along with the embroidered girdle, and finally the pure gold plate engraved with “HOLINESS TO THE LORD,” fastened to the turban with a blue lace exactly as instructed. Every single component of the tabernacle and its furnishings, having now all been finished, is brought together and presented to Moses for inspection.
Moses examines all of the work carefully, and the text records with evident satisfaction, “according to all that the LORD had commanded, so had they done it.” Moses blesses the people for their faithful, careful obedience in completing this enormous undertaking exactly as God had specified, down to every last detail.
The repeated phrase throughout this chapter, that everything was done exactly as the Lord commanded, is the whole point. Faithful obedience does not mean improving on God’s instructions or improvising where convenient. It means careful, complete follow-through on exactly what was asked, and Moses’ blessing affirms how much that mattered.
