Bezaleel personally constructs the ark of the covenant from acacia wood, overlaying it inside and out with pure gold, “zahab tahor” in Hebrew, and casting four gold rings for its corners to hold the carrying poles, also overlaid in gold. He crafts the mercy seat of pure gold, and hammers out two cherubim from the same piece of gold, positioned at each end facing one another with wings stretched upward, overshadowing the mercy seat exactly as God had specified.
Bezaleel then builds the table of acacia wood overlaid with pure gold, complete with a gold crown molding around its border, and crafts the dishes, spoons, bowls, and covers of pure gold to accompany it. He constructs the golden lampstand from a single piece of hammered pure gold, its six branches decorated with almond-blossom cups, knops, and flowers, along with its accompanying tongs and snuff dishes, all of pure gold.
Finally, Bezaleel crafts the altar of incense from acacia wood overlaid with pure gold, complete with its own gold crown molding and carrying rings, along with the holy anointing oil and pure incense, prepared exactly according to the sacred formula God had given Moses. Every single item, from the smallest spoon to the ark itself, is completed with the same careful, precise devotion to God’s original instructions.
Bezaleel treated even the smallest utensils, spoons, tongs, snuff dishes, with the same careful precision as the ark itself. Nothing in God’s house was considered too minor to deserve excellence. Genuine devotion often shows itself most clearly in the small, unseen details that no one else may ever notice.
