The psalmist calls everyone to sing to the Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of saints, letting Israel rejoice in Him who made them, letting the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
The psalmist calls them to praise His name in the “dance,” “machol” in Hebrew, singing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp, since the Lord takes pleasure in His people, beautifying the meek with salvation, letting the saints be joyful in glory, singing aloud upon their beds.
The psalmist describes the high praises of God being in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people, binding their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron, executing upon them the judgment written, this honor having all His saints, closing with, “Praise ye the LORD,” this psalm combining joyful, physical praise, dancing and music, with confident anticipation of God’s ultimate justice being fully carried out.
