PSALMS 93 ‐ “The Lord Reigneth”

Bible Chapter Reviews

The Chosen Key Word in this Chapter is “Floods” it comes from the Hebrew Word “nahar” which means “rivers, floods.”

This brief psalm celebrates God’s majestic, unshakable kingship over all creation. Welcome to Bible Life Basics Chapter Reviews, I am Chris and this is Psalm 93.

The psalmist declares the Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty, the Lord is clothed with strength, He has girded Himself, the world also being established, that it cannot be moved, His throne being established of old, He being from everlasting.

The psalmist describes the “floods,” “nahar” in Hebrew, having lifted up their voice, the floods lifting up their waves, the Lord on high being mightier than the noise of many waters, yes, than the mighty waves of the sea.

The psalmist closes declaring God’s testimonies are very sure, holiness befitting His house forever, a brief but majestic psalm using the image of raging seas and pounding waves to illustrate just how much more powerful and unshakable God’s eternal reign truly is compared to even the most overwhelming natural forces imaginable.

This brief psalm’s vivid contrast between the pounding, powerful ocean waves and God’s even greater majesty offers a memorable, sensory picture of divine sovereignty that transcends every earthly force, however overwhelming it might initially seem. Its declaration that God’s throne was established of old provides genuine stability, reminding readers that His reign rests on eternal foundations rather than shifting, uncertain circumstances.
