David declares truly his soul waits upon God, from Him comes his salvation, He only being his rock and his salvation, his defense, so he shall not be greatly moved, asking how long they will imagine mischief against a man, picturing him as a bowing wall and a tottering fence.

David observes that men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie, to be laid in the balance they are altogether lighter than vanity, warning against trusting in oppression, or becoming vain in robbery, and if riches increase, not to set their heart upon them, declaring that God has spoken once, twice he has heard this, that power belongs to God, and mercy also belongs to Him, since He renders to every man according to his work, a settled, confident psalm dismissing every false source of security in favor of God alone.
