The psalmist calls all people to clap their hands, and shout to God with the voice of triumph, since the Lord most high is terrible, a great King over all the earth, subduing peoples under them, and nations under their feet, choosing their inheritance for them, the excellency of Jacob whom He loved.
The psalmist declares, “God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a “trumpet,” “shofar” in Hebrew, urging everyone to sing praises to God, sing praises, sing praises to their King, sing praises, since God is King of all the earth, urging them to sing praises with understanding.
The psalmist closes declaring that God reigns over the heathen, sitting upon the throne of His holiness, the princes of the people being gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham, since the shields of the earth belong to God, He being greatly exalted, a triumphant, brief psalm of universal praise celebrating God’s sovereign kingship extending over every nation, not merely Israel alone.
