John witnesses victorious saints singing before seven angels bearing the final plagues. Welcome to Bible Life Basics Chapter Reviews, I am Chris and this is Revelation 15.
John describes seeing another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them is filled up the “wrath,” “thumos” in Greek, of God, describing those who had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. John describes them singing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest,” after this John looks, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven is opened. John describes the seven angels coming out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their chests girded with golden girdles, one of the four beasts giving to the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever, the temple being filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from His power, no man being able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled, this brief but significant chapter serving as a solemn introduction to the seven bowl judgments that will unfold with dramatic detail throughout the following chapter.
This chapter’s beautiful song, celebrating both Moses’s original deliverance and the Lamb’s ultimate victory, connects the exodus narrative directly to Christ’s own greater redemptive work, showing genuine continuity throughout Scripture’s entire unfolding story. Its declaration, all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments are made manifest, reveals that even severe judgment ultimately serves God’s purpose of drawing genuine, worldwide recognition and worship toward Him.
