The Chosen Key Word in this Chapter is “Prophet” it comes from the Hebrew Word “nabi” which means “one who speaks on behalf of God.”

Abraham travels south and settles near Gerar, where he tells King Abimelech that Sarah is his sister, the same deception he used in Egypt years earlier. Abimelech takes Sarah, but God warns him in a dream that she is a married woman, and that Abraham is “a prophet.” The Hebrew word for prophet is “nabi,” meaning one who speaks on behalf of God.
Abimelech, who has not touched Sarah, protests his innocence, and God confirms that He kept Abimelech from sinning against Him. Abimelech confronts Abraham the next morning, and Abraham admits his fear that there was “no fear of God” in that place, so he assumed his life was in danger. Abimelech restores Sarah and gives Abraham livestock, servants, and silver as a gesture of goodwill.
Abraham then prays for Abimelech’s household, since God had closed every womb there because of Sarah, and God heals them in response to Abraham’s prayer.
This chapter also reveals something important about God’s character. Even in a foreign king’s household, unfamiliar with the covenant, God still protects the integrity of His promise by intervening directly, keeping Abimelech from sinning unknowingly. God’s faithfulness to His plan did not depend on every person around Abraham getting things right. It depended on God Himself guarding the promise.
Abraham, the same man who believed God for the impossible, repeats an old fear-driven pattern. Even people of great faith can fall back into familiar failures. But God protected Sarah anyway and still used Abraham’s prayer to bring healing, showing that His faithfulness does not depend on our consistency.
