The writer summarizes his main point, that they have such a high priest, who has sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man, describing how every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices, so it was necessary that this One also have somewhat to offer.
The writer explains that if Christ were on earth, He would not be a priest, seeing that there are priests who offer gifts according to the law, who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, describing how Christ has obtained a more excellent “ministry,” “leitourgia” in Greek, by how much also He is the mediator of a better covenant, established upon better promises, since if the first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for the second.
