The Chosen Key Word in this Chapter is “Peoples” it comes from the Hebrew Word “am” which means “people, nation.”
Micah envisions a future age of peace when nations stream to worship at the Lord’s mountain. Welcome to Bible Life Basics Chapter Reviews, I am Chris and this is Micah 4.
Micah envisions that in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and “peoples,” “am” in Hebrew, shall flow to it, many nations coming, and saying, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.”
Micah declares that out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem, and He shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations far off, and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks, nation not lifting up a sword against nation, neither learning war any more, but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree, and none shall make them afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken it.
Micah declares that all people will walk every one in the name of his god, but God’s people will walk in the name of the Lord their God forever and ever, describing how in that day He will assemble her who halts, and gather her who is driven out, and her who He has afflicted, making her who halted a remnant, and her who was cast far off a strong nation, the Lord reigning over them in Mount Zion from henceforth, even forever, urging the daughter of Zion to be in pain, and labor to bring forth, for now she shall go forth out of the city, and shall dwell in the field, and shall go even to Babylon, closing with a promise that there He will deliver her, there the Lord will redeem her from the hand of her enemies.
Micah’s magnificent vision of nations streaming to worship at the Lord’s mountain, sharing striking, nearly identical language with Isaiah’s own similar prophecy, envisions a genuinely transformed future where God’s own instruction produces authentic, lasting international peace. His memorable image, swords beaten into plowshares, remains one of Scripture’s most beloved expressions of hope for a world genuinely free from war’s devastating violence.
