Daniel receives an extensive, detailed prophecy concerning kings who shall arise in Persia, and a mighty king who shall stand up, ruling with great dominion, but when he stands up, his kingdom shall be broken, and divided toward the four winds of heaven, describing extensive conflict between the king of the south and the king of the north, detailing specific “alliances,” “berith” in Hebrew, marriages, battles, and betrayals across generations of these competing kingdoms with remarkable, specific historical detail. Daniel continues this extensive prophecy describing further military campaigns, invasions, and conflicts, describing tidings out of the east and out of the north that shall trouble this king, so he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many, planting the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain, yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him, this extraordinarily detailed prophecy, extending across many verses and centuries of historical development, demonstrating remarkable, specific prophetic accuracy that scholars have long studied and connected to actual, verifiable historical events in the centuries following Daniel’s own lifetime.
