Jeremiah records the word he spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at his mouth, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, telling him that thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning him, that he said, “Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my “sorrow,” “yagon” in Hebrew, “I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.”
Jeremiah delivers God’s response to Baruch, instructing him to tell him thus, that behold, that which He has built He will break down, and that which He has planted He will pluck up, even this whole land, asking whether he seeks great things for himself, urging him not to seek them, for behold, He will bring evil upon all flesh, but He will give Baruch his life for a prey in all places where he goes.
